These past few days, i have been suffering from severe muscle aches, to the extent that i would have to literally clench my jaws everytime i go down the steps or to simply stand from a chair. now i know what it is like to lose the ability of your legs. It is most probably due to the lack of exercise during the holidays that doing some jumping would result in so much pain. although walking alone made me feel extremely uncomfortable, i had to run 3 rounds for P.E. It did hurt a lot but at least the teacher was kind enough to allow Lin Hui and I to run at our own pace. We played frisbee after our usual rounds. it was fun but i could barely run so i was practically stumbling around. Yesterday, the school's Literature department organised a surprise outing for Year 1 & 2 Literature students to Kranji War Memorial. i don't remember visiting the place before and to my surprise, the place was so calm, peaceful and serene and the constant blowing wind kept our skirts flying all the time. If there were no tomb stones or ashes beneath our feet, that place would be perfect for a morning stroll or a light picnic. It was really saddening to realise that the oldest victim that we could find was only 54, and the youngest not even a day old. this experience definitely brought back memories of my late relatives. It is really interesting to see how a rough, uncouth and vulgar teenager can turn into a polite, sincere and determined person when talking about their future. it is like how they talk about how much they have to strive, or how they should always be strong. well, i guess people may try to seem strong on the outside when inside, they are very vulnerable.
